Stavo controllando quanti lavori ho fatto in questi due anni e sorprendentemente ho realizzato che c'era già materiale per una seconda iterazione di Viewpoint. Il fatto che abbia intensificato il mio lavoro sul disegno ha portato i suoi frutti. In una notte è nato Viewpoint Vol.2.

Viewpoint 2 è il meglio della mia produzione fra il 2011 e il 2012, e contiene stralci di fumetto, illustrazioni, concept art e character design. Interamente a colori come il suo predecessore, anche questo stampato in tiratura limitata, Viewpoint Vol.2 è probabilmente l'inizio ufficiale di una serie di questi piccoli compendi del mio lavoro.

Ci ho preso gusto, mi danno il polso di quanto sto crescendo, e per me che sono un impulsivo mitiga la necessita di fare uscire subito le mie cose, lasciandomi più ragionevole sui progetti che necessitano tutt'altro che la fretta.

Grazie a Cotton, anche Viewpoint Vol.2 prenderà vita in forma digitale. Le edizioni cartacee di Viewpoint 1 (ristampato!) e 2 sono disponibili anche in bundle ad un prezzo speciale.

Qualche tempo fa in un'intervista a "Lo spazio bianco" ho detto che 

"Tema di golem saranno la libertà, il potere e la crescita: è una critica radicale delle moderne democrazie tramite il dispositivo narrativo del futuro distopico, come classici i del genere, ma con una impostazione più verosimile e documentata, come nello splendido “Children of Men”di Alfonso Cuaròn. Steno, il protagonista, attraverserà un vero e proprio percorso iniziatico, fino a prendere piena coscienza delle sue capacità. I sogni ad occhi aperti possono cambiare la realtà e golem è un fumetto che incarnerà questa affermazione in pieno."

Era il 2010.

Golem, è un progetto di cui ho scritto il primo soggetto nel 2004 ed è Il mio progetto più importante. In assoluto. Negli anni è cambiato, mutando forma e mole in maniera consistente, passando decine di revisioni. La penultima stesura del 2010 ammontava a oltre 600 tavole, con ovvio cordoglio da parte degli editori ogni volta che provavo anche solo a parlarne.

Potete immaginare la gioia nel constatare che la pena che mi portavo dietro ogni giorno dal 2004 ha finalmente trovato una forma pubblicabile: 120 tavole a colori e un editore, GRRRZETIC.

Golem uscirà quindi in qualche momento imprecisato del 2013 in un formato compatibile con l'editoria contemporanea, con tre edizioni differenti. L'edizione standard avrà la cover che vedete qui sopra. Nella galleria l'originale a matita e un po' di disegni collaterali.

L'illustrazione di copertina è disponibile come sempre anche come stampa Giclee A2, con inchiostri Ultrachrome su carta rag ultrawhite hanemulhe 310gsm

HORA! HORA! HORA! Get ready for some real action! Diego Cajelli and Luca Genovese's Long Wei is about to hit all newsagents in italy very hard and very soon! I will be in charge for the cover art for the whole serie that will be out at Lucca Comics 2012 with a super special issue number 0. Some work in progress and details in the gallery below. I will do a specific post about the logo, which is also by me. Magazine graphic design is by Paolo Campana. A short story for the upcoming book "Asso", by Roberto Recchioni. Always thought Roberto has a striking similarity to Hiroaki Samura's characters, so here is he, as a crazy wandering ronin death bringer. Never mess with Asso! Some making of steps in the gallery!
